Mayde Creek HS Yearbook Staff Wins Major Award - The Mayde Creek High School yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor
Publishing, a major publisher of yearbooks nationwide, with an Award of
Excellence honoring its accomplishments in yearbook design and coverage. The
Mayde Creek High School yearbook is featured in the 2009
Yearbook Yearbook as among the best. The yearbook advisor is Shetye Cypher.

Girl Scouts from Katy’s Junior Troop 3802 enjoy camping at Girl Scout camp Misty Meadows near Conroe.
Camping Trip to Misty Meadows for Brownie and Junior Troops - Brownie Troop 63812 and Junior Troop 3802 enjoyed a camping trip at camp Misty
Meadows. The troops enjoyed a hike with Girl Scout volunteer Mr. Henry as their
tour guide. The girls learned about some of the local trees and flowers on the
camp grounds. Yellow jasmine was in bloom that weekend.

Taylor Pacesetters Bring Home Some Hardware - The Taylor High School Pacesetters dance team officers and individual team
entries competed at the MA Dance
& Drill Team Contest in Pasadena. The dance officers won super sweepstakes,
choreography, outstanding technique and the winner
’s circle silver cup award.
The officers include Col. Kelsey Allen; Lt. Col. Shelby Pickens; Senior Lts. Leah Garner and Natalie Marcom; and Junior Lt. Lauren Corbett.
In the duet category, Kelsey Allen and Shelby Pickens were winners and Kelsey Allen and Leah Garner placed first runner-up. In the trio category, Lauren Corbett, Molly Mayo and Alison Patrick were winners. Senior solo finalists were Kelsey Allen, second runner-up and
Shelby Pickens. Junior solo finalists were
Caitlin Wilkinson, winner; Valerie Ewen, first runner-up; and Rebecca Roseboom, second runner-up. All of the soloists competing earned Division 1 ratings.


Amanda Hightower receives the Who’s Who in FBLA as well as first-place honors in American Enterprise.
Mayde Creek Wins Big at FBLA Regional Competition - MCHS student Amanda Hightower was awarded Who’s Who in FBLA as well as first-place honors in American Enterprise at the Future
Business Leaders of America Regional Competition at Seven Lakes High School.
Out of the 17 students who participated, 13 placed in one or more events. Those
placing in the competition were: American Enterprise
– first place, Amanda Hightower; Business Ethics – first place, Neal Patel, Omar Ghani, Sheila Rastegari; Business Presentation – third place, Elisabeth Carranza, Amanda Hightower; Community Service Project – first place, Alia Govani; Computer Problem Solving – fifth place, Jesus Acosta; Desktop Publishing – fifth place, Monica Casson, Tim Nguyen; Electronic Portfolio – first place, Gerardo Amaya; FBLA Principles & Procedures, fourth place, Rayna Ratliff; Impromptu Speech – first place, Javier Perez; Local Chapter Business – third place, Ariella Pintabona; Chapter Scrapbook, third place, Alia Govani; and Who’s Who in FBLA, Amanda Hightower.

High School.
DARE Role Models Visit Pattison Elementary - DARE Role models from Taylor High School visited Pattison Elementary fifth-
graders to answer questions about peer pressure and the importance of saying no
to drugs.
The role models then ate lunch with the students.
