ARTreach needs additional sponsors for programs serving adults with special
needs, including weekly Music Making Workshops and the ARTreach Art
& Business Program, that teaches ARC of Katy participants how to create
functioning art items, ceramics, note cards and silk screened T-shirts that can
be sold to create income for other projects and important needs.
Demand for these ARTreach programs as well as free ceramic and clay making
workshops for residents in assisted living communities are rising. ARTreach is
seeking additional sponsors of their weekly studio workshops that invite the
medical care community and residents of assisted living communities to attend
the ARTreach Studio for free weekly art lessons, clay and

The Barry Sea Paradox, on April 3 and April 23 at the Crescent Moon Wine Bar in
Spring from 8 p.m.-midnight.
One of Texas’ hottest groups, The Barry Sea Paradox has a hit CD that is played often on
KTSU-FM, KPVU-FM, and Ronnie Renfrow
’s Classic Cool radio show on 650 AM. They’ve appeared at many of Texas’ finest clubs playing music they describe as “smooth Jazz with a rough edge called soul.” It includes a wide variety of jazz, R&B, oldies, swing and even some country.

The Cinco Ranch Custom Home Showcase, set for the weekends between April 18-May
3, will feature four decorated custom homes priced from $1.1-$1.2 million in

of a 37-acre lake.
Admission is $5 per person, with all proceeds benefitting The Brookwood
Community, a Brookshire, Texas, community for functionally disabled adults.
Showcase hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. on Sundays.

Gallery Night will be held on April 2 at Tradition Bank from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
This is the student art show and awards ceremony featuring gifted students in
Katy. The Studio Scholarship winner will be announced and a silent auction of
artwork created by participants and volunteers in the programs will help raise
money for special summer ARTreach projects and camps for children at-risk.
paws in the park, april 2
The 2nd annual Paws in the Park Golden Eggvent will be held on April 2 at the
city of Katy Dog Park.
All dogs must pre-register at the Dog Park or at the city of Katy Parks and
Recreation office. All dogs must have a leash.
The costume contest begins at 5:30 p.m. and the Easter egg hunt begins at 6 p.m.
Admission is one can or bag of dog food per dog, which will be donated to a
local shelter.

southeast texas area aglow retreat, april 3-4
Aglow International for the Southeast Texas area will hold a retreat on April
3-4 at the Brookhollow Sheraton in Houston.
Pastor Nancy McCready from Christian City Fellowship of Sealy and Pastor Jorge
Cardenas from Church on the Rock of Katy will be the speakers.
Registration is $75 for adults and $35 for the generations segment and includes
lunch on Saturday.
Demonstrations by Katy Sea Cadets at LaCenterra, April 4
The Katy Naval Sea Cadets will meet at LaCenterra in Cinco Ranch on April 4 from
10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Sea Cadets will demonstrate how they formation march, use
flags for signaling (semaphores), tie knots and other Navy-related skills.
Booths will be set up for parents and children to learn more about the United
States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and the opportunities available to Sea Cadets,
which includes summer training opportunities with the Navy and Coast Guard and
college scholarships.
