The Barry Sea Paradox will perform every Saturday from 8 p.m.-midnight at the
Mercury Bar in Cinco Ranch. Mercury Bar is a martini Jazz lounge with an
emphasis on artisan beer and wines.
One of Texas’ hottest groups, The Barry Sea Paradox has a hit smooth jazz CD that’s received lots of radio airplay. The group features long-time Katy residents
Barry and Bobbie Sea (Siegel). They

Former Houston Astros ace pitcher, broadcaster and winning manager Larry Dierker
will make a star appearance in his new musical,
Old Stories - A Tale of Baseball and Love at the HCC Spring Branch Campus on Aug. 7-8 at 7:30 p.m.
Written by Larry Dierker, Dr. Aubrey Tucker and Paul English, Old Stories is a fun, frolicking romp about the mythical Washington Capitols and their quest
for the National League championship in 1970.
“King” Cole, the Caps' long-time home run hitter, meets and falls in love with Cindy,
the cousin of a friend.
Ticket prices are $10 and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased
in advance at the Performing Arts Center box office, 1060 W. Sam Houston
Parkway in Houston and will be also on sale the evenings of the performances.

Maud Marks Branch Library Events during august
The following free programs will take place at the library during August.
Storytime for preschool-aged children is held each Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.
Stories, fingerplays and songs are featured. This is ideal for children ages 3
to 5, but all children and their caregivers are welcome.
Pat-a-Cake Club Infant Storytime meets each Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. and
11:15 a.m. This is an interactive program for children ages 0 to 12 months and
caregivers. Each session will last about 20 minutes, featuring nursery rhymes,
songs and finger plays.
Children 18 to 36 months are invited to participate in Totally Toddler Storytime
on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.
Join the Afternoon Book Club on Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. The Evening Book Club will
meet on Aug. 3 at 7 p.m.
Free Internet Classes are available on Aug. 5, 15 and 19 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.,
Aug. 20 from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. and Aug. 25 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Learn how to navigate
your way around the World Wide Web and use successful search techniques.
Pre-registration is required for the Aug. 15 and Aug. 20 classes.
On Aug. 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold
a used book sale. There will be a large selection of hardback fiction and
nonfiction, as well as children
’s books and paperbacks.
The Summer Reading Program will offer the show, Strike, Shake, Scrape on Aug. 5 at 2 p.m.
The Teen Summer Reading Program is designed for teens ages 12 and up. All
programs are free, but pre-registration is required. Upcoming events include:

The Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center’s Books Alive! Literacy Through the Arts Program will hold auditions for its musical adaptation of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m., with call backs slated for Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.
Books Alive! is an all-professional touring company who performs adaptations of
popular children
’s books throughout the greater Houston area. All acting positions are paid.
Actors must be available between the hours of 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on either
Monday/ Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday/ Saturday during the month of October.
