Katy Area Chamber of Commerce’s November Business Builders Breakfast featured Jedediah Greenfield, environmental communications manager for the mayor’s office at the city of Houston, who presented a lecture on Going Green to Save Green.
Greenfield reminded everyone that, “Americans like to throw their trash away—out of sight out of mind. However, each of us can help change that mentality and
put a few bucks back in our pockets by making the green change.
”
Other tips he offered were to remember to reduce, reuse and recyle. “We need to think of our business operations with this in mind. For example,
paper is the largest volume material that businesses throw away. We can reduce
our paper consumption by 50 percent by printing double-sided, we can reuse
printed paper to write notes and recycle paper once we are done with it.
”
He also talked about the importance of remembering to compost and suggested
getting a compost bin and recycle green waste by making good compost and use
the compost for landscaping and save.
Other tips included being energy efficient and recyling unused electronics.
