Cinco Varsity Boys Golf Team Takes First in Tournament - The Cinco Ranch varsity boys golf team took first place honors at a high
school tournament at River Ridge Golf Club in Sealy. The team shot a two-day
team score of 599 led by
Micah Hill (70, 73) and Dylan Reynolds (76, 72). Hill took second-place individual honors in the boys division.

Katy TKD’s Newest Black Belt Students - The Katy TaeKwonDo Academy recognized students who have earned their First
Degree Level 1
“Probationary” Black Belt: Anna Beth Duncan, Barbara Duncan, Eli Huston, Myron Layese, Antonio Mariaca, Damini Patel, Garrett-Lee Peyton, Hunter Peyton, Danny Rubiano, Braden Sullenger and Diego Velochaga.
Students who have earned their First Degree Level 2 “Decided” Black Belt are: Diana Baron, Ricardo Baron, Amanda Barnett-Saez, Samuel Gardner, Alexander Hartano, Ian Junatas, Noah Key, Georgia Klar, Robert Krbashyan, Jay Patel, Manish Wani, Neel Wani and Nina Wani. Emily Dudek earned her Third Degree Black Belt.
The Katy TaeKwonDo Academy trains and equips its instructors in varying degrees
of intensity on the road to become Internationally certified instructors.
Earning the title of instructor are: Level 1 Instructors
Joshua Dubrow, Arya Muralidharan and Emily Ware; and Level 2 Instructor Travis Atchley.

Pack 542 donated items to the Katy Christian Ministries Food Pantry.
Rylander Pack 542 Holds Service Project - Rylander Cub Scout Pack 542 held its annual food drive to support Katy
Christian Ministries Food Pantry. The Scouts and their families met at Kroger
on Grand Parkway and Bay Bill Blvd. to purchase goods for the food pantry.
They were able to purchase 700 items. After they finished shopping, the Scouts
ate lunch at Palio
’s Pizza and delivered items to the food pantry. The boys were given a tour of
the facility and helped assemble food bags for the patrons.


Nic Black Earns Eagle Scout Rank - Nicholson (Nic) Black of BSA Troop 925 has successfully completed his Eagle Scout rank. He has been a
member of Troop 925 of Katy since January 2004. Nic started Scouting as a Tiger
Cub in first grade with Cub Scout Pack 925 at Hayes Elementary.
In Troop 925, under Scoutmasters James Williams and Joe Dante, Nic served in several leadership positions including senior patrol leader,
patrol leader, chaplain
’s aide and was elected to the Order of the Arrow. Nic plans to continue in
scouting as a junior assistant scout master at Troop 925.
For his Eagle Scout project, Nic worked with the Cinco Ranch Homeowners
Association to build and install hike and bike trail markers throughout Cinco
Ranch.
With the support of many families throughout Cinco Ranch and the Homeowners
Association, Nic raised $2,500 to build and install more than 11 miles of trail
markers, color coding the trails and adding two pedestal-mounted trail maps.

RAE Hosts Groovy Dance - The Roosevelt Alexander Elementary PTA hosted a ’70s-themed dance to celebrate a successful PTA fall fundraiser. RAE families who
participated in the RAE PTA Fall fundraiser received an invitation to the fun
afterschool event.
Mayde Creek HS Performs at Red Ribbon Week Pep Rallies at Elementary Schools - Members of the Mayde Creek High School varsity cheerleaders, Ram Men, football
captains and martinette officers performed a Red Ribbon Pep Rally at Wolfe
Elementary and Mayde Creek Elementary.
Taylor HS Band Celebrates Senior Hat Day - The Taylor High School Marching Band celebrated its traditional Senior Hat
Day. Seniors in the band created their own unique hat to wear during the
halftime show and recognition of seniors in the JET band.
The WoodCreek Junior High choir sings the school alma mater as its closing
number during the fall concert.
WoodCreek Timberwolf Singers Hold Fall Concert- The WoodCreek Junior High Choir held a successful fall concert. Choir teacher Lauren Burris composed the school alma mater last year, and with combined voices, the sixth-,
seventh- and eighth-grade choir members sang it as the closing number.
The following students participated in the Region Choir Auditions at Beck Junior
High: seventh grade
– Sarah Andersen, second chair; Annie Hillstrom; Mindy Keahey, first chair; Tony Lira, fifth chair; Vrinda Rajkumar; and Matthew Tankersley; eighth grade – Jessica Gardner, fourth chair; Morgan Hollingshead, third chair; Zachary Kornblau, third chair; Samantha Partyka; and Edward Unger.
These students competed with 650 other singers for a spot in the All-Region
Choir. They performed in the All-Region Choir Concert.

Mayde Creek Artists Compete in Contest - Mayde Creek High School artists Emily Kellar and Sarah Slaughter participated in the Culture Shapers art contest. Each student has a chance to
win up to $5,000.

RAE Family Fun Walk Honors Former Teacher - Roosevelt Alexander Elementary Principal Kristin Harper, and Assistant Principal Kristen Smith trained to participate as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training to run the half marathon at the Nike Woman’s Marathon in San Francisco.
To assist their efforts, the All For One, One For All RAE Family Fun Walk was
created and held in honor of RAE
’s former first grade teacher, Christina Hague, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last school year.
Approximately 200 RAE families and 50 volunteers participated in the event and
helped to raise $4,616 for The Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society.
