Katy Youth Football Donates to Special Pals - The Katy Youth Football fifth grade Varsity Texans donated food and supplies
to Special Pals,
a nonprofit no-kill animal shelter. On April 17, 2010, they will host a West “Mutt”ster Dog Walk to benefit the homeless animals at the shelter in need of medical
care.
High School Bands Combine for Half Time Show - During the final game of the regular season, Taylor High School and Seven
Lakes High School bands and color guards performed the first-ever combined
schools half time show. The show included
Thriller by Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton’s When A Man Loves A Woman and a moving tribute to the military and the community of Fort Hood with America the Beautiful.

Mayde Creek Photojournalism Students Win Big at State Competition - Mayde Creek Publications students placed in the following categories at the
Texas Association of Journalism Education state competition of more than 800
students:
Tori Blanchard, Excellence in Feature Writing; Corissa Ayala, Honorable Mention in Photo Illustration and Excellence in On Site Taste of San
Antonio; and
Rachel Toth, Superior in Photo Illustration.
Troy Marasigan takes home the Silver Medal award in the 6th International Chopin
Youth Competition.
Sixth-grader Competes in International Competition - Troy Marasigan, a sixth-grader at McMeans Junior High, won the Silver Medal Award (Junior
Division) at the 6th International Chopin Youth Competition at the Performing
Arts Center of Houston Community College. He competed against 19 of the best
pianists nationwide and delivered a moving performance of Chopin
’s Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op.9, No. 2 for his winning piece. Troy’s teacher is Anna Golka.
Girls varsity team members are: Caroline Wood, Alyssa Pantle, Abby Newton,
Kristen Lauritano and Megan Webster.
Girls Varsity Golf Team Earns Top Honors - The Cinco Ranch varsity girls golf team took top honors at a two-day
tournament
hosted by Taylor High School. The girls were led by Abby Newton (73, 75) and Alyssa Pantle (84, 85) with a two-day team score of 671. Newton took first-place individual
honors for the girls.
