Allegro dance of houston presents the nutcracker
Allegro Dance of Houston will perform a full-length version of The Nutcracker in December for the seventh consecutive year. “It is our hope to continue to expose the community to the beauty of dance for many years to come, ” said director Glenda Brown. “It is so important to encourage young people in the arts as well as in sports.”
An outstanding production at an affordable price, The Nutcracker will be presented at Westside High School at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.
“The costumes are beautiful, the props and scenery are lovely, and the audience continues to grow each year. Dancers from the Houston Ballet are also featured. They are absolutely wonderful, ” Brown said.
In conjunction with the ballet, Allegro is sponsoring a Toy Drive benefitting patients at Texas Children ’s Hospital. There will be collection boxes at each performance for new toys. Company dancers will deliver the toys while dressed in their Nutcracker costumes.
Breakfast with the Sugar Plum Fairy will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 9:30 a.m. at Lakeside Country Club. The Sugar Plum Fairy and some of her friends from the ballet interact with children attending the breakfast and perform excerpts from the play.
