DAR/C.A.R. Donation to Ronald McDonald House. Members of the Star of Destiny Chapter, NSDAR, and Stars and Stripes Society,
NSCAR, presented the Ronald McDonald House with more than 166 pounds of pull
tabs from soda cans. This equates to approximately 244,350 pull tabs, which
strung together end to end, would cover 3.86 miles. Since approximately 16
pounds of pull tabs equals one free night for a family at the RMH, this also
represents more than 10 free nights for families in need.
Making the donation to the Ronald McDonald House are C.A.R. members Kevin, Stacy
and Alana Stagg, Anna Miller (Stars and Stripes Society president) and Lee
Miller. Not pictured are Bonnie and Roger Peplaski, and Rebecca Miller.
Pattison Elementary Sing-Along. Pattison Elementary started its winter break with the entire student body
gathering in the gym to sing holiday songs lead by music teacher
Christi Elrod.
ARTreach pilots a creative dance program for new mothers and infants.
ARTreach pilots dance and music program at Pregnancy Help Center. ARTreach completed a four-week pilot at the Pregnancy Help Center. The
organization was piloting a dance program called
“Nurturing Pathways for Babies” taught by certified instructor Erin Stanley.
This is a creative dance program for new mothers and their infants that was
developed to enrich a baby
’s cognitive and physical development by using baby exercises, musical
instruments and sensory rich creative play products.
The ARTreach Pilot gave new mothers an opportunity to experience the joy of
dancing while strengthening the bond with their baby at no cost to the
Pregnancy Help Center.
The outcomes in this ARTreach pilot were positive, and has motivated both
ARTreach and the Pregnancy Help Center to seek sponsors to support ongoing
classes at the center. They are hoping that by combining their resources they
can fund the program and continue to offer it free to PHC clients. The
organizations are seeking $725 in matching funds to sustain the program in
2010.
