Remedy Roofing donated more than 275,000 pounds of roofing material, enough to roof more than
50 homes, to Houston Habitat for Humanity.
The materials will be used to roof Houston Habitat homes for underserved and
hard-working Houston families. Any unused materials will be sold in the Houston
Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a home improvement resale store where items are
sold at greatly reduced prices with proceeds supporting the organization

The Greater Houston Builders Association held its bi-annual Forecast Luncheon featuring Mike Inselmann of MetroStudy. Before the keynote speech, the GHBA installed its new president
for 2010,
Kevin Holland of Cervelle Homes, and presented several awards including Custom Builder of the Year to Stephen Hann of Hann Builders.
2009 was a milestone year for Hann as he achieved his Lifetime Director status
of the National Association of Builders, was the first in Texas to earn the
title of Graduate Masters Remodeler, and a two-time Houston
’s Best winner including Best Custom Home over $1 million and Best Remodeled
Kitchen.
Additionally, as an active member of the Custom Builders Council, Stephen
arranged for educational speakers for GHBA members, participated in government
affairs and mentored other builders when invited.
Firethorne sold 238 new homes in 2009, achieving a record high for annual sales for the
Katy/Fulshear residential development.
Last year’s home sales represented a 16.6 percent increase over 2008. The previous record
for the 4-year-old development was 218 sales in 2007.
The 1,400-acre master-designed community is located 15 miles west of Houston’s Energy Corridor.
“We’re very pleased with these figures, as well as the fact that 88 percent of our
sales in 2009 were brought to us by Realtors,
” noted Firethorne General Manager Wayne Meyer. “We’re very grateful for the support we have received from the Realtor community. I
think the industry norm in a new community such as Firethorne is 60 percent of
sales generated by Realtors,
” he added.
According to Meyer, Firethorne has been holding its own thanks to continued
growth in the Katy and Fulshear areas and for its recognized school district
that is among the best in the state.
Firethorne has sold a total of 918 homes project-to-date. The Firethorne builder
team consists of Coventry Homes, Highland Homes, Parkwood Builders, Partners in
Building, Perry Homes, Plantation Homes and David Weekley Homes.
