Katy Lifestyles & Homes February 2010

Graduation: as much a milestone for the parents as the students. A celebration of sweat, tears, exams, practice, tutorials, college prep and bake sales; a time for families to hope and dream and reflect with pride on the significance of this milestone.
Within the Katy ISD, each high school establishes Project Graduation as a registered nonprofit, governed by a board of directors comprised mainly of parents whose collective purpose is to provide their teens with a safe place to hang out on grad night. The party itself is funded by the hard work of volunteers, fundraisers, personal and corporate donations, car washes, garage sales and, of course, bake sales.
Project Graduation for the Cinco Ranch High School Class of 2010 is well into its planning stages, with fundraising in full swing. Co-presidents Linda Holt and Angela Garner are leading the charge to meet the $90,000 budget by June 5.
Their motivation is simple: Project Grad saves lives.
Holt says, “We want to provide a safe venue for their last party together—parents will know
lives this event will impact—the misfortune it could be preventing.”
It is an ambitious undertaking and it is with the enthusiasm and support of Cinco Ranch families that the Project Grad committee will meet its goals. Mark  your calendars for these fundraising events kicking off early in 2010:
On Feb. 6, Cinco Ranch Golf Club will be the host site of a community dinner with live and silent auctions featuring such items as a weekend getaway to a Texas ranch and autographed sports memorabilia, as well as jewelry, flowers and gifts for your Valentine.
A sporting clay shoot is scheduled for Feb. 27 on private property in Fulshear. Sportsmen (12 years of age or older) and sponsors can contact organizers to find out how to become involved in this great outdoors event. And, start thinking about who will join your golf team for the first CRHS Project Graduation golf tournament on April 25.
