jason koch leads worship at Crossbridge united methodist church, sundays
Jason Koch and his talented band including Daniel Williams, C.J. Dipalma, William Matthews and Jesse Reed, lead worship each Sunday at Crossbridge United Methodist Church. Katy Heritage arts center, first
saturday of the month

ARTreach and the Katy Heritage Society have formed a creative partnership to promote the cultural arts in Katy and have opened the Katy Heritage Arts Center in the Stockdick Home at Katy Heritage Park.
The Katy Heritage Arts Center will be open the first Saturday of every month with a range of unique items created by craftsmen and fine artists in the community.
ARTreach will feature professional artists and display local work that represents a historical array of functional art items. These include wheel-thrown pottery, milk pitchers, flour bowls and decanters by artists Marissa Vitola and Sony Hartley, with custom 1830s dinnerware by Stacy Baer. Handmade soaps by Michelle Hurd are featured, as well original knitted scarves, and felt bowls by artist Maxine Rothman. An assortment of whimsical and eclectic gift items is also displayed.  
The Katy Heritage Arts Center will host demonstrations and sell creative art gifts with sales benefiting ARTreach Programs and KHS Outreach.  
Artists and craftsmen interested in demonstrating their craft, or selling their wares should go to info@artreachonline.org for an application.

The Cinco Ranch High School Parent Teacher Student Association is hosting a community garage sale in the parking lot of the school on April 25 from 8 a.m.-noon. Spaces can be rented for $25 each.

katy isd ffa livestock show & rodeo
The Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Rodeo Association 2009 Katy Rodeo will be held Feb. 26-28. A three-night, eight-event Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association rodeo by Lancaster Rodeo Company will be featured. Katy Rodeo was the CPRA highest pay off rodeo for 2005, 2006 and 2007.
This year, traditional cowboy action such as calf roping, ladies barrel racing, bareback riding, steer wrestling and bull riding will be offered on all three nights. Showcased each night will be the all-time crowd favorites: Mutton Bustin ’, Calf Scramble and Stick Horse Race. Junior events also include Junior Girls Barrel Racing and Junior Breakaway Roping Competition.
During the day on Saturday, the Ranch Rodeo Exhibition is scheduled. Four non-traditional team rodeo events are scheduled: doctoring, mugging, de-tagging and branding.

5th annual get fit – play hard kids only fun run
Kids of all ages are invited to join in the fun at the 5th Annual Get Fit – Play Hard Kids Only Fun Run on Saturday, Feb. 28. The fun run is open to all children, toddlers through eighth grade, and will promote the importance of physical fitness to the youth in the community. The fun run will start and finish at the St. Laurence Religious Education Center, and the races will be run in the Colony Park neighborhood.
The fun run will consist of four events, beginning with a 25-yard Toddler Trot for kids 4 years of age and under at 9 a.m. New this year will be the addition of a one-half mile run. The one-fourth mile and one-half mile run will be open to all children through eighth grade. The fun run will conclude with a one-mile run for children in grades 1-8. The events will be run in heats based on grade/age.
Each participant will receive a custom finisher medal, an official Get Fit – Play Hard race T-shirt and race number. Post race refreshments and activities will also be provided. In celebration of the 5th anniversary, a special commemorative item will be guaranteed to the first 500 entrants.
Dr. John Schiro is returning for a fifth year as the title sponsor for the fun run.

resource fair, march 7

Family to Family Network and Katy ISD Special Education Dept. will be co-sponsoring a Special Education Parent Conference and Resource Fair on Saturday, March 7, at Morton Ranch High School from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This free event will be open to parents of children ages birth to adult and any type of learning or developmental disability.
The Parent Conference will feature four breakout sessions during the day on a wide variety of topics relating to specific disabilities, special education, transition, financial planning, accessing technology, reading and math, guardianship, speech and language development, and much more. The Resource Fair will feature local and state resources that will be of interest to parents and will run from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (no registration is required to attend the resource fair only).

friendship bible studies
Friendship Bible Studies in the Katy and west Houston area are organized by the Katy Christian Women ’s Connection. These are small group Bible studies that are easy to follow and written for people with different backgrounds and in all stages of spiritual growth. The groups are small and led by an assigned guide and meet for 60-90 minutes a week in a home, office or other location. They vary from four-14 weeks in length, according to the topic chosen. Some of the titles include: Who Is Jesus?, What Is God Like? and Where is the Holy Spirit?

Maud Marks Branch Library Events during february
The following free programs will take place at the library during February
Storytime for preschool-aged children is held each Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. Stories, fingerplays and songs are featured. This is ideal for children ages 3 to 5, but all children and their caregivers are welcome.
Pat-a-Cake Club Infant Storytime meets each Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. This is an interactive program for children ages 0 to 12 months and caregivers. Each session will last about 20 minutes, featuring nursery rhymes, songs and finger plays.
Children 18 to 36 months are invited to participate in Totally Toddler Storytime on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.
Join the Book Discussion Club that will meet on Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
Free Internet Classes are available on Feb. 3 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m., Feb. 11 and Feb. 25 at 10 a.m., as well as a Saturday class on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. Learn how to navigate your way around the World Wide Web and use successful search techniques. You must know how to use a mouse and a keyboard.
On Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold a used book sale. There will be a large selection of hardback fiction and nonfiction, as well as children ’s books and paperbacks.  No items over one dollar. All proceeds will benefit the library.
The Princeton Review will be at the Maud Marks Library on Feb. 14 at 10:15 a.m. to administer a practice SAT. On Feb. 21 at noon, they will return with graded tests and tips and strategies for scoring high on the SAT. Seating for this and all programs is limited.
