Girl Scout Holds Event for Elderly to Earn Gold Award - Girl Scout Senior Shannon Alridge held a Christmas bazaar at the Manda Ann
Convalescent Home to earn the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Gold Award,
the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve.
“I chose this project to increase the social stimulation of the residents at
Manda Ann,
” said Shannon.
In addition to holding her holiday event, she also created a year-round gift
shop where residents could spend money created and distributed by Shannon and
her volunteers.
As an active member of Girl Scouts, Shannon earned the Bronze and Silver awards
and is a member of The Voice, a girl-led group that serves the GSSJC board of
directors.

Finalist Named from Mayde Creek HS - Mayde Creek High School athlete Tanner Campbell has been named a finalist for
the Touchdown Club of Houston
’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. He is one of 25 finalists selected from more than
150 local schools.
