Kilpatrick Elementary Contest Winners - Kilpatrick Elementary students Brianna and Evan Mickshaw are winners of a
drawing contest sponsored by SpawGlass. They were each awarded a $50 Target
gift card.
Kilpatrick Elementary also received a $100 donation on behalf of Brianna and
Evan.

Katy Naval Sea Cadets Volunteer at Wings over Houston Air Show - More than 20
U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, Katy Division,
served as volunteer ushers at the Wings over Houston Airshow at Ellington Field.
The cadets worked with fellow Sea Cadets from the Houston Division ushering
visitors to their seats in the VIP section of Ellington Field.
They also helped Navy representatives manage their recruiting booth, assisted
those interested in the Navy in keying information into a computer and helped
the Navy
’s Blue Angels precision flying team give out autographs.
Twelve Katy TaeKwonDo Academy students compete in a team sparring competition.
TaeKwonDo Sparring Team Wins Gold Again - Students and instructors from International TaeKwonDo Alliance academies in
the Houston region gathered for two days of training seminars, skills clinics,
high rank exams and the headline event, the Texas State
ITA TaeKwonDo Championship tournament.
Katy TaeKwonDo Academy students brought home medal after medal in competitions
for traditional forms, sparring, extreme forms and free design. Twelve of the
Katy students were selected to represent their school for a much anticipated
team sparring competition. Each of the fighters gave it their all as they
sparred peers in three-point matches from Houston, The Woodlands and Sugar Land
to earn the gold medal. The Katy academy has been the winner of this recurring
team event more times than any other academy in the Houston region.
Fighters on the Katy team were: green/blue belts – Kishore Mugundhan, Junior 6-10 years; Andrea Wong, Junior 11-14 years; Dennis
Byargeon, Adult Male; Irene Torres-Soto, Adult Female; brown/red belts
– James Nicholson, Junior 6-10 years; Brian Madina, Junior 11-14 years; Alberto Rios, Adult Male; Melissa Furman, Adult Female;
black belts
– Osama Ehimwenma, Junior 6-10 years; Amanda Barnett-Saez, Junior 11-14 years; Anthony Thompson, Adult Male; and Emily Bell, Adult Female.
Kilpatrick Elementary Receives TBEC Honor Roll Award - Odessa Kilpatrick and Roosevelt Alexander elementary schools are proud
recipients of the TBEC Honor Roll presented at a ceremony held in San Antonio.
This prestigious award recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of
consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving
similar student populations.
Cub Scouts Hold Toy Drive - Cub Scout Pack 987’s service project during the holiday season was a Toy Drive for Katy Christian
Ministries. The boys each brought toys for children ranging from infants to
teens and delivered them to the Toy Drive at KCM. The Scouts learned valuable
lessons regarding giving and sharing.
