Young artists create “blooming” artwork at the Books in Bloom festival.
Children Create Artwork to Benefit Literacy Council - The Books in Bloom festival at LaCenterra benefited the Literacy Council of Fort Bend. Children worked on a project with ARTreach artist Kelly Dillard to create a painting that will be auctioned at the Literacy Council of Fort Bend Gala.

KEYS Scholarships Awarded to 11 Katy ISD Graduating Seniors - Katy ISD’s Partners in Education department awarded 11 $2,000 Keep Encouraging Youth Toward Success scholarships to graduating seniors who participated in the program.
KEYS is a mentoring program for students of promise who are eligible to apply for scholarships up to $2,000 during their senior year.
The 2009 KEYS scholarship recipients are:  Jessica Beck, Ryan Crawford and Stephan Johnson from Taylor; Cristal Plasencia from Morton Ranch; Kayla Burlette, Carri Kelly and Hussein Kadibhai from Seven Lakes, Lauren Kelly and Cory Cloudy from Cinco Ranch; and Jessica Vaquera and Stuart Reese from Mayde Creek.  
Girl Scouts Provide Snack Packs for Lunch Outreach Program - Four Prairie Rose Service Unit Girl Scout troops 17272 (Brownies), 17288 (Brownies), 17302 (Juniors) and 3065 (Cadettes) joined forces to put together snack packs and collect donations for a lunch program

Art Mural Unveiled at Pattison Elementary - Pattison Art Club students had an opportunity to participate in the creation of a mural for the

outreach for the homeless sponsored by Living Word Lutheran Church.  
The girls worked together to make more than 100 packets of snacks to place in lunches while completing activities for their bridging requirements.

Students created seven of the 60 panels. Many of the other panels were painted by students, ARTreach members, AIDS Foundation members, local artists and people living in Venezuela, China, Africa and other locations around the world.  Each artist was asked to paint a panel to represent their hopes, needs and feelings.  
Pattison students painted about hunger, security, family, spirituality, entertainment and many other ideas that were individual to them. The mural will be permanently installed in the state PTA office in Austin.

Marsha Carlisle Scholarship Winners Honored - Three Mayde Creek High School choral students were honored with the first annual Marsha Carlisle Memorial Scholarships. Receiving the scholarships were: Francisco Solorzano who will be attend Baylor University majoring in Pre-Medicine. Lauren Shelton will attend University of Texas and major in English and Alex Lathrom will attend Sam Houston State University and plans to major in vocal performance.
The memorial scholarship is named after Marsha Carlisle who was the assistant choir director at Mayde Creek High School for seven years before losing her battle to cancer.
Kilpatrick first-graders visit the Oil Ranch.
Kilpatrick First-graders Take a Trip to the Oil Ranch - Kilpatrick Elementary first- graders enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Oil Ranch.  Students had a great time at the petting zoo, hay maze, pony rides, milking the cows as well as many other activities.

Four Taylor Seniors Recipients of Choir Booster Scholarships - Taylor High School seniors Samantha Darnell, Laura Smolik, Randi Garza and Susannah Bayliss were the recipients of the 2009 Taylor High School Choir Booster scholarships. The students received the awards during the annual choir banquet.
