Summer Saturdays in Cinco presented in partnership with the Cinco Ranch Home
Owners Association, July 11, 18, 25, 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. The popular summer
cultural arts series returns to LaCenterra offering an array of theater, dance
and interactive performances designed just for kids. Guests are invited to join
Dante Teller of Tales on July 11 for an exciting and interactive voyage to the
Land of Stories. Dante recounts stirring tales that teach lessons of
understanding differences and finding good in all. Dan Egger-Belandria
’s Rhythm Explosion is set for July 25. Guests are invited along on a musical journey that explores African, Cuban and
Caribbean rhythms and folklore. Harpist Sarah Shute performs at SimplyCinco on
Aug. 8.
Children will enjoy the magical and beautiful sounds of the harp.
Mondays with Mommy: “Summer Safety” presented by The Katy Area Red Cross, July 13, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Guests are

spirited jazz combo features Gene Fritts on guitar and Tom Viviano on trumpet
and flugelhorn. The combo serves up jazz standards, cool jazz and bossa nova.
open trails, fridays
Open Trails is an opportunity to enjoy a self-guided walk on one of Katy Prairie
Conservancy
’s breezy, beautiful preserves each Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the KPC Field
Office.
Hike along a well-marked path listening for the honks of wild geese sweeping
towards the horizon, scan the golden-brown grasses for darting grasshoppers,
and, best of all, take in the calming sounds of an inviting countryside only 45
minutes from the hustle and bustle of Houston.
Each guest is provided with an informative, full-color trail guide to add to
their journey of discovery and is encouraged to download a Trail Cast from the
Web site, which complements information found in the trail guide.
All participants should wear appropriate outdoor clothing, including closed-toe
shoes and long pants. A long-sleeve shirt is also recommended. Participants
should bring their own water and insect repellent.

KVPAC Presents Attention Deficit Improv Hosted By Black Acre Theatre, july 3, 4,
31 and Aug. 1
Attention Deficit Improv will be held the first weekend of every month at KVPAC,
2501 S. Mason Road #290.
Hosted by Black Acre Theatre, the new program promises an evening of comedic
ventures ranging from quirky characters to on-the-spot song creation.
Participate in the fun and games, or just sit back and laugh with friends and
enjoy the show.
Concessions will be available for purchase. Friday nights from 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
are designated for young teens age 13-18; and Saturday nights from 8 p.m.-10:30
p.m. are for older teens and young adults 18 and older.

Events during july
The following free programs will take place at the library during July.
Storytime for preschool-aged children is held each Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.
Stories, fingerplays and songs are featured. This is ideal for children ages 3
to 5, but all children and their caregivers are welcome.
Pat-a-Cake Club Infant Storytime meets each Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. and
11:15 a.m. This is an interactive program for children ages 0 to 12 months and
caregivers. Each session will last about 20 minutes, featuring nursery rhymes,
songs and finger plays.
Children 18 to 36 months are invited to participate in Totally Toddler Storytime
on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.
Join the Afternoon Book Club on July 9 at 1 p.m. The Evening Book Club will meet
on July 6 at 7 p.m.
Free Internet Classes are available on July 28 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m., July 1, 11
and 15 from 10 a.m.-11a.m., and July 11 and 23 from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Learn how to
navigate your way around the World Wide Web and use suc
cessful search techniques. Pre-registration is required for the July 11 and July
23 classes.
On July 25 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold
a used book sale. There will be a large selection of hardback fiction and
nonfiction, as well as children
’s books and paperbacks.
The Summer Reading Program will offer the following shows during July at 2 p.m.:
