Katy Day in Austin!
Every other year the Katy Chamber of Commerce takes a bus load of chamber
members to Austin. In addition to a tour of the state capitol, the day is
declared as
“Katy Day in Austin.” The day was filled with a great lunch and an afternoon of speakers. This year’s speakers included Texas Director of Homeland Security Steven McCraw, Deputy
Secretary of State Coby Shorter, Supreme Court Justice Dale Wainwright,
Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson,
Economic Development
& Tourism Division, Team Leader Joe Morin, Public Utility Chairman Barry
Smitherman, and Harvey Kronberg, Quorum Report. Kaye Goolsby worked closely
with the chamber to line up the speakers. (Several of the photos were taken by
