Maverick FFA Competes in State FFA CDE Contest - The Maverick FFA competed in the State FFA CDE contest at Texas A&M. The Mavericks earned the opportunity to compete against the elite teams in
the state by advancing through District and Area elimination.
The Poultry judging team of Laura Carpentier, Patti Gregoire, Jennifer Frie and Joey Mesa placed third in the state. Laura was the first high point individual and Patti
16th in the entire state. This is the highest placing FFA team in Morton Ranch
history. The Meats Judging team of
Joseph Hay, Brandon Robinson, Austin LaMarr and Garrett Reed placed ninth. Garrett led the way with 14th place individual recognition.
Very few schools even make it to the state contest, and even fewer earn their
way to the top 10 statewide. Morton Ranch is one of only two schools in Area
III FFA to have two teams place in the top 10 at the State CDE. Added with
three top 10 fall LDE teams, the Morton Ranch FFA is one of a very few chapters
statewide with five top 10 finishes this year.
