Dr. James H. Kern has been a physician for nearly 25 years and has performed

certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Medical Specialties
(ABMS). You can verify ABMS certification at
www.abms.org. Check for additional experience and qualifications in aesthetic (cosmetic)
plastic surgery by looking for the surgeon
’s membership in The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) at www.surgery.org. The surgeon should also have privileges to perform plastic surgery at local
hospitals and not just in their own operating room.
Schedule consultations with several offices to see how you like the surgeon and
office staff, how they handle patients and what the individual surgeon
’s level of expertise is with your concerns. There should be sufficient time for
you to ask questions and receive detailed answers. Do you have a sense that
