Upcoming ARTreach events during the months of March and April include:
First Tuesday at Fish City Grill at LaCenterra in Cinco Ranch on March 3. Lunch
and dinner proceeds will benefit ARTreach and an alliance of charities that
include the Katy Heritage Society and Pregnancy Help Center.
Paint for a worthy cause on March 5 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. This is a NCL Katy
Chapter mother/daughter event at the ARTreach Studio at Ceramics by Tess. Items
created in this workshop will be sold in the silent auction on Gallery Night on
April 2.
Visit the Heritage Arts Center on March 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and see fine art
on display and a collection of items created by ARTreach students. Gifts and
unique crafts sold benefit ARTreach programs.
ART with a Voice will be held on March 7 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Wine Next
Door, LaCenterra. This is an opening reception for Houston artist Pete Menzer.
Paintings sold will benefit ARTreach programs.
Margaritas Today, ARTS Tamale will be held on March 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at
Berry Hills in Cinco Ranch.
Paint for a worthy cause on March 22 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at The Villagio at Cinco
Ranch. Living Word volunteers will be painting with Carries Hart and Arc of
Katy participants to create children
’s chairs and tables to be sold in the silent auction on Gallery Night.
Gallery Night will be held on April 2 at Tradition Bank from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
This is the student art show and awards ceremony featuring gifted students in
Katy. The Studio Scholarship winner will be announced and a silent auction of
artwork created by participants and volunteers in the programs will help raise
money for special summer ARTreach projects and camps for children at-risk.
FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH
Katy Heritage arts center
ARTreach and the Katy Heritage Society have formed a creative partnership to
promote the cultural arts in Katy and have opened the Katy Heritage Arts Center
in the Stockdick Home at Katy Heritage Park.
The Katy Heritage Arts Center will be open the first Saturday of every month
with a range of unique items created by craftsmen and fine artists in the
community.
ARTreach will feature professional artists and display local work that
represents a historical array of functional art items. These include
wheel-thrown pottery, milk pitchers, flour bowls and decanters by artists
Marissa Vitola and Sony Hartley, with custom 1830s dinnerware by Stacy Baer.
Handmade soaps by Michelle Hurd are featured, as well original knitted scarves,
and felt bowls by artist Maxine Rothman. An assortment of whimsical and
eclectic gift items is also displayed.
The Katy Heritage Arts Center will host demonstrations and sell creative art
gifts with sales benefiting ARTreach Programs and KHS Outreach.

The Barry Sea Paradox In Concert,
Thursdays and Saturdays
Barry and Barbara (Bobbie) Sea (Siegel) are appearing with their group, The
Barry Sea Paradox, every Thursday and Saturday at two Post Oak Grill locations.
One of Texas
’ hottest groups, The Barry Sea Paradox has a hit CD that is played often on
KTSU-FM, KPVU-FM and Ronnie Renfrow
’s Classic Cool radio show on 650 AM. They’ve appeared at many of Texas’ finest clubs playing music they describe as “Smooth Jazz with a Rough Edge Called Soul.” It includes a wide variety of jazz, R&B, oldies, swing and even some country. It’s ideal for dancing, or you can just sit back, listen, and enjoy. The group has
appeared on
Hometown Live on ABC affiliate Channel 13, Great Day Houston on CBS affiliate Channel 11, and Fox Rocks on Channel 26.
Performances will be held on Thursdays, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Post Oak Grill Cafe
(Midtown), 3017 Milam (just north of Elgin); and Saturdays, 8 p.m.-midnight,
Post Oak Grill, 1415 S. Post Oak Lane.

nottingham country garden Club meeting, march 5
The Nottingham Country Garden Club meeting will be held on March 5 at at the
Municipal Utility Building No.81, 805 Hidden Canyon Drive in Katy. The featured
speaker will be Gaye Hammond, past president of the Houston Rose Society, who
will talk about No Maintenance Rose Gardening the Earth-Kind Way. Meet and
greet time begins at 9:30 a.m. and the program will start at 10 a.m., followed

3rd annual princess boutique, march 6-7
The Cinco Ranch High School 3rd annual Princess Boutique will be held on March
6-7 in the main commons of the school.
Boutique items may be purchased on Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. Proceeds benefit the 2009 CRHS Project Graduation.
Donations are needed new and gently used formal dresses, men’s suits and formal handbags. Items may be dropped-off at the CRHS main office or

Rodeo uncorked!
champion wine auction and dinner, march 7
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Auction Committee will host the annual
Champion Wine Auction and Dinner at the Methodist Training Center (across from
Reliant Stadium) on March 7 at 6 p.m.
The event will kick off with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, featuring more than 200 award-winning wines and a silent auction
featuring various wine-related packages. At 7 p.m., attendees will enjoy a
sumptuous five-course seated dinner, and winning wines will be auctioned to the
highest bidders in the live auction beginning at 8 p.m.
A limited number of reserved tables can be purchased for $2,500, $4,000 or
$7,500. Limited individual tickets are available for $325.

katy special education parent conference, resource fair,
march 7
Family to Family Network and Katy ISD Special Education Dept. will be
co-sponsoring a Special Education Parent Conference and Resource Fair on
Saturday, March 7, at Morton Ranch High School from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This free
event will be open to parents of children ages birth to adult and any type of
learning or developmental disability.
The Parent Conference will feature four breakout sessions during the day on a
wide variety of topics relating to specific disabilities, special education,
transition, financial planning, accessing technology, reading
& math, guardianship, speech and language development, and much more. On line

The Resource Fair will feature local and state resources that will be of
interest to parents and will run from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (no registration is
required to attend the resource fair only).
katy high school sentimental journey dinner dance, march 7
Katy High School Jazz Band will host its 23rd annual Sentimental Journey – A Tribute to Big Bands dinner dance on March 7 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the school.
Enjoy the smooth sounds of the award winning KHS jazz band, with special guest
vocalist, Bonnie Steele, as they play many big band favorites. Dinner and
dancing will make the evening complete.

Katy aglow monthly meeting, march 24
Katy Aglow Community Lighthouse, part of Aglow International, will meet on March
24 with fellowship at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the
Church on the Rock, 433 S. Barker Cypress. The topic for the month is Israel.

ARTreach upcoming events at agave road, beginning march 25
Agave Road has selected ARTreach as its charity of choice and is donating
gallery, exhibition and venue space as available to the organization to help
expand ARTreach Community Programs in 2009. The community can look forward to
ARTreach
’s exhibitions, fine arts events, sculpture garden reviews and music concerts.
Expressive Arts will be held on March 25. This program utilizes music, movement
and art for Mental Health Recovery, supporting families in crisis.
ARTreach’s Day of Caring Art Making Workshop will be held on April 28 with volunteers and
Vita Living residents (adults with intellectual and physical disabilities) from
4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The West Houston Chamber of Commerce Agave Road Open House,
Ribbon Cutting and After Hours Event will take place from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
