Flashback-the Nam donated to the Veteran Museum of Katy. An ARTreach exhibition of Pete Menser’s work was held at The Wine Next Door at LaCenterra in Cinco Ranch. The
exhibition featured excerpts of the artist
’s life through a collection of his expressive artwork.
Menser’s ability to paint in an expressive manner has helped him throughout his life,
including the post trauma of the Vietnam War.
The exhibition was a unique art event and a fundraiser for ARTreach. Several
paintings were sold, including the piece Flashback-The Nam, which was purchased
by
Steve and Patty Uchytil.
Menser described this particular work of art as his way of dealing with the
intense emotions of the Vietnam War. The Uchytils were touched by the emotional
impact of the work and donated the painting to the Veterans Memorial Museum of
Katy.
At the museum for the artwork presentation are: Terri Bieber of ARTreach, Patty
Uchytil, Steve Uchytil, Cmdr. Peyton Lumpkin, Betty Edmunson, Museum Curator,
Mayor Don Elder and city councilwoman Carol Adams.

and sixth- and eighth-place rabbits, among others, to support the Katy ISD
Future Farmers of America.
“The Katy ISD Livestock Show & Rodeo is always a highlight of the year and this year we especially were
thrilled to be able to purchase the eighth-place winning rabbit raised by one
of our own Firethorne Guide employees,
Shelby Jasso, who is a junior at James Taylor High School,” said Firethorne Stampede’s Wayne Meyer.
“Shelby has worked at Firethorne after school and summers for two years,” said Meyer.
kvpac collaborates with downtown houston theaters
to provide workshops. Forty-five junior and senior company students from KVPAC’s signature theater club for advanced and experienced students had the
opportunity to attend a workshop offered by Main Street Theatre instructor
Alan Hutton.
Hutton taught the students stage combat, which is a specialized technique in
theater designed to create the illusion of physical combat without causing harm
to the performers.
