Principal Marcus Forney with the Read it Forward banner.
Read it Forward at West Memorial Junior High - At West Memorial Junior High, 100 copies of Schooled by Gordan Korman were released in conjunction with Read It Forward, a reading
promotion designed to encourage students to read a book and pass it on to a
friend.
The books were wrapped to look like presents and caused much excitement
throughout the school as students searched for them. After students read the
book, they can write a comment or just their name in the front of the book.
They
’re also asked to come to the library to sign their name on a school bus cut-out
and receive a peace sign necklace. The book is then passed on to a friend to
continue the cycle. Other events
planned to tie into the project include a tie-dyeing party, recycling project
and Tai Chi demonstration.
