Howl-o-Scream at seaworld san antonio, weekends in october
SeaWorld San Antonio is ready to provide some frightening fun for the whole family during “Howl-O-Scream,” a special program offered in the park during weekends in October. The park opens at 10 a.m. each day and closes at 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays.
All-new this year is a special Sesame Street show, “Countdown to Halloween,” where Nautilus Amphitheater is transformed into Count’s Castle. Come celebrate with Count Von Count and his Sesame Street friends.
SeaWorld San Antonio is open weekends through Jan. 3, Thanksgiving week, Nov. 22-29 and Dec. 19-Jan. 3 (closed Christmas Day). Also, Sunday, Jan. 3, is SeaWorld ’s final operating day for the 2009 season. For more details, call 800-700-7786 or visit www.seaworld.com.

Theatre Suburbia presents If It’s Monday, This Must Be Christmas from Nov. 6-Dec. 5.
In this comedy, not only is the payroll missing but, crime of all crimes, somebody kidnapped
Santa Claus! And Harry has only one day, Christmas Eve, to solve the case. Wise cracks and plot twists fly faster than Santa ’s sleigh in this yuletide whodunit.
Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults; $13 for students  and seniors. The Sunday shows are $12.

christmas market, nov. 6-7
The Celebrations Christmas Market will be held on Nov. 6-7 on the West campus of Second Baptist Church located between Fry and Greenhouse Roads. Celebrations attracts more than 100 vendors from all over the state of Texas who are selling hand-crafted pieces, Christmas collectibles, extraordinary jewelry, scrumptious gourmet treats, unique home accents, inspired treasures, fashions, specialty toys and one-of-a-kind gifts. make this event an annual tradition for the community.
In addition, returning to Celebrations this year is the seasonal plant sale sponsored by The Brookwood Community. Katy Christian Ministries will sponsor photos with Santa in front of a giant candy house and children ’s silhouettes will be captured with the help of The Pregnancy Help Center.

heartwarming craft show,  nov. 14
The 20th Heartwarming Craft show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church,
22111 Morton Road.
More than 68 artisans will feature jewelry, clothing, pottery, floral and other handmade items. The Sandwich Shoppe & Tea Room will offer homemade baked items. Silent auction baskets will go to the highest bidder.

Nighttime with the Nutcracker
Ballet Forte & the Roosevelt Alexander Elementary PTA present Nighttime with the Nutcracker on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at Alexander Elementary School.
The evening will include a short performance and reading of the classic Nutcracker story with desserts, coffee and cocoa following the event
Tickets go on sale Nov. 2 at the school. The price is $15 or $20 at the door. All proceeds from the event go to the RAE PTA.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Junior Clinic, nov. 21
Families are invited to attend the Ronald McDonald House Charities Junior Clinic to be held at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club driving range on Saturday, Nov. 21, starting at noon. Attendees will learn tips and tricks from LPGA teaching professionals and have an opportunity to practice their putting and chipping. The clinic is open to children aged 7-17 and is free of charge with tournament admission (which runs Thursday, Nov.19, to Sunday, Nov. 22).

THROUGH OCT 29 - texas terror at katy mills
Texas Terror, a 60,000-square-foot haunted house, is now at Katy Mills providing spooks and frights through Oct. 31. With more than 100 trained actors and professional makeup artists, chilling gruesome scenes on Hollywood-style sets will scare the daylights out of everyone. General admission tickets are $25. THROUGH OCT 29 - tgi fall concert series at lacenterra
Live music returns to LaCenterra with the 2009 TGIFall Concert Series on Thursday nights through Oct. 29 from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Guests are invited to unwind after a long day or ease into the weekend with a mix of some of the area ’s premier jazz, blues, pop and country artists each Thursday.
Upcoming performances include: Oct. 1, The Revelators are one of the few bands able to capture and celebrate the funky spirit and eclecticism of rock ‘n’ roll pioneers like Stephen Stills or the Texas’ own Sir Douglas Quintet. Comprised of a supergroup of local players, this band is in demand for its ability to groove you up and take you back.
BEGINNING NOV 17 - lpga tour championship
The 2009 LPGA Tour Championship will be held Nov. 17-22 at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club. The event will feature a field of 120 of the top LPGA professionals in the world, a $1.5 million purse and a unique format that will see a cut after 36 holes to the low 70 professionals and an additional cut after 54 holes to the low 30 pros.
Tickets for the 2009 LPGA Tour Championship can be purchased online at www.lpgatourchampionship.org or by phone at 877-LPGA-TIX. The cost for daily tickets, which allow grounds access for any one day of tournament week (Wednesday-Sunday) is $20. Daily parking passes are also available for $5 each. Weekly grounds passes are $60 and allow access to the tournament grounds for the entire week.

All weekly ticket purchases also include one complimentary weekly parking pass.
Volunteers are also needed at the event to help in a variety of ways including player transportation, working the main scoreboard and assisting the media with gathering stats. The volunteer package is priced at $55. To complete an application online, go to the Web site.
The LPGA Tour Championship will be broadcast on the Golf Channel from Nov.19-22.
Oct. 8, The Slags take the stage. The group covers familiar pop and rock from the ‘80s, ‘90s and present day.
Oct. 15, Hamilton Loomis is a local guitar plucking treasure on the brink of being discovered nationwide. Combining a reverence for blues tradition with a continuing flirtation with funk and rock, Loomis looks to add his name to a list of Texas blues-rock luminaries that dates back to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Oct. 22, TropiCrew’s repertoire includes salsa, meringue bachata, cumbia, reggaeton and Latin pop, as well as a U.S.-based party favorites from disco to swing.
Oct.29, In The Pocket represents a talented cast of professional musicians who share an interest in classic improvisational jazz and a healthy admiration for musical greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Horace Silver.
Food and nonalcoholic beverages are available from any LaCenterra restaurant or specialty food retailers. Courtyard beverage service will be provided by Fish City Grill.

15th Anniversary Tee-Off for Tourette Golf Event, oct. 19
The 15th Anniversary Tee-Off for Tourette Charity Golf Event, benefiting the Tourette Syndrome Association of Texas, will be held on Monday, Oct. 19, at The Woodlands Country Club Arnold Palmer Signature Course. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. Format is four-person scramble/best ball. Cost is $150 for each player or $560 per 4-person team.  Entry includes green fee/cart, range balls, shirt, goodie bag, drinks, lunch and dinner.  Dinner, silent auction, raffle and door prizes will follow the tournament. Sponsorship packages are available beginning as low as $100.  Dinner/silent auction only tickets are $20.
Pre-registered and pre-paid golfers will receive two tickets to attend any single day at the Champions Tour Administaff Small Business Classic on Oct. 16-18 at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. Tickets will be mailed prior to the event.

Howl-A-Ween at Dog
Park, Oct. 29
The city of Katy will host its annual Howl-A-Ween event at the dog park in Katy on Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. Events include tricks and treats with your four-legged goblin and a costume contest. Applications are available at the Parks and Recreation office.
Admission is one bag of dog food
per pet that will be donated to the local shelter. For more information, call

CHRISTUS ST. Catherine Breast Cancer Walk, oct. 31
Cross Creek Ranch has partnered up with CHRISTUS St. Catherine Hospital to host a breast cancer awareness walk on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. at Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear.
This is a family walk with a Pink Pamper after-party for participants, which includes free services, boutiques, a kid zone with the Disney princesses, bounce house, rock wall and snacks. Since this is a family walk, leashed dogs are invited and there will be a Pink Pooch station as well.
The fee is $15 and participants will receive a princess goodie bag filled with perfume and makeup samples. Each walker will also receive a pink boa as well as a event T-shirt. Children under 12 are free.
