Perry’s Wine Dinner
On July 9, Perry’s hosted a five-course dinner featuring Fisher Vineyards wines. The chefs at
Perry
’s prepared an array of decadent foods that were nicely pared with Fisher
Vineyard Wines. Although Fisher Vineyards cares for estates in two premier
growing regions, Napa Valley and Sonoma County, most of the wine came from the
Sonoma County estate.
An original homestead ranch, Fisher Vineyards’ Spring Mountain Estate was purchased by Fred and Juelle Fisher in 1973
(unplanted at the time). Today, the pioneering work to develop these mountain
vineyards is awe inspiring to nearly every visitor. Driven by the dream to
produce completely distinctive, world-class wines, Fred and Juelle undertook an
ambitious 35 year development that has yielded several wines of great
distinction.
The Spring Mountain Estate encompasses approximately 100 acres, only 30 of which
are planted, and is located on the western face of Spring Mountain high above
the Sonoma Valley. Built in 1978 and constructed from timber grown and milled
on the property, the barn-style winery is the work of late
|
architect and close family friend William Turnbull (please see Winery and
Cellar). Barrel-aging caves were added deep beneath the winery in 1998, dug
into the hillside below the winery and connected by a steep underground
stairway.
