SECOND ANNUAL GRAYSON LAKES HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE & SOCIAL
Children lined up dockside to whisper into Santa’s ear while brightly lit pontoon boats paraded past about 250 neighbors on Dec. 6 in the Grayson Lakes Second Annual Holiday Boat Parade and Social.
Six electric deck boats adorned with sparkling lights, hearty green garland, red bows and various glowing decorations navigated through the calm waters of the neighborhood ’s largest lake. On shore, residents enjoyed goodies and hot chocolate, shopped at a neighborhood holiday market, and lined up to see Santa Claus before casting their vote for the best decorated boat.
A grand prize winner was named and received an award. Prior to the pontoon parade, canoes and a paddleboat warmed the crowd up. A drawing was held and an award was given to one lucky small watercraft winner.
The Grayson Lakes Event Committee, along with a donation from Bob Miles of Prudential Gary Greene Realtors, sponsored the event.
Prior to the beginning of the boat parade, Santa Claus and one of his devoted elves made their way through the neighborhood atop the Willow Fork Fire Department ’s bright red fire truck as music trumpeted his arrival. Outside the neighborhood’s clubhouse, children colored a craft and enjoyed treats while neighbors visited and took in all the activity.
6) The boat receiving the grand prize is owned by Paul and Julie Johnson.
7) Santa Claus (aka Jon Bridge) and elf (Jenna Johnson) tour the neighborhood in style, courtesy of the Willow Fork Fire Department.
8) Event committee members Sylvia Cooper and Evelyn Woodard staff the children’s craft table.
